ANCE SIRACUSA TURNS 70: ANCEMAG TELLS THE LONG STORY OF AN ASSOCIATION SERVING ITS TERRITORY
ANCEMAG, the magazine of the Italian National Association of Building Contractors (ANCE), devotes two pages of its December 2026 issue to the 70th anniversary of Ance Siracusa, the Association chaired by Paolo Augliera, Sole Director of Solesi S.p.A. A story that brings together memory, companies and new generations.
Around 1,200 companies and 6,500 workers, plus a wide supply chain of suppliers, subcontractors and related businesses: these are the figures that show the weight of construction in the economy of the province of Siracusa. For seventy years Ance Siracusa has represented these companies and supported their growth.
The anniversary was celebrated at Castello Maniace with the event “70 anni Ance Siracusa: costruire il futuro dell’abitare” (70 years of Ance Siracusa: building the future of living), moderated by Tg1 journalist Nathania Zevi. A day to look back on the history of the Association and to discuss the issues facing the sector today: the housing emergency and the national Housing Plan, investments, urban regeneration, sustainability and simplification.
The proceedings were opened by ANCE national president Antonio Ciucci, who named the renovation of the existing building stock and the energy efficiency of buildings as two priorities. The Housing Plan needs funding, simpler procedures, an answer to rising material costs and effective coordination, including a national steering committee modelled on the one used for the PNRR (Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan).
Companies and territory, seventy years together
Ance Siracusa president Paolo Augliera recalled the contribution of local companies to the growth of the province: “Together with our companies, over 70 years we have contributed to the growth of Siracusa”. To keep generating development, he said, the sector needs sound projects, funding and leaner procedures, especially to work on existing buildings and improve their energy and environmental performance.
The anniversary was also an opportunity to honour the companies that helped build this history: Assennato Costruzioni Edilizie, a member since 1956, Conpri, Cammisa Costruzioni and Cogeital. The awards, presented by Augliera and Ciucci, pay tribute to several generations of entrepreneurs and to their bond with the Association.
Young people, skills and innovation
Looking ahead, the day saw the official launch of the new Ance Siracusa Young Entrepreneurs Group, created to bring new skills into the life of the Association. “We need new energy”, Augliera said, stressing the importance of opening the Association to technological and organisational innovation, from artificial intelligence to the new tools available to companies.
Training and safety were at the heart of the speeches by Margherita Finocchiaro, president of Formedil Siracusa, who stressed that urban regeneration must go hand in hand with the growth of professional skills, and by Salvo La Rosa, president of the Cassa Edile, who highlighted the value of cooperation between employers’ associations, trade unions and joint bodies.
For Solesi, whose Sole Director chairs Ance Siracusa, it is a source of pride to be part of an Association that combines memory and vision: investments, clear rules, training and new generations to turn the needs of the territory into concrete projects and growth opportunities.
